I am brought back to my days at Northside Church of the Nazarene when I hear this song.

I was, uh, in fifth grade? Sixth grade? I don’t remember, but the youth room, where my older sister’s spent much of their time (when they weren’t ignoring me or making fun of me or… okay nevermind that!) was decorated with the DARE TO RUN theme. I heard that song so many times I could probably sing it in my sleep.

The other day, I was sitting at my desk at work during my lunch and contemplating an important decision I had to make. A verse my pastor mentioned at church the weekend came to my head.

Hebrews 12:1 (NASB)- “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

It was the last part that really spoke to me. “Run the race with endurance.” It was like God was saying, rather clearly, “Run THIS race, Krista.”

So I did. And, well, the rest is up to the good Lord, right?

Ever since then, I’ve had the “Dare to Run” song stuck in my head. May I never be too much of a coward to run the race God has set out for me. May I always keep my eyes on Jesus and follow in His footsteps. I want to run in the power of HIS spirit, and be a victor for HIS glory.

    church choir several years ago.
Does anyone know where I can get
the words and music for it?

  4. It was hard to find anything about it online… all I know is that it was part of a youth "theme" back in the 90's when I was a teen.

I did find this site that has some lyrics and chords…

Hope that helps! Blessings to you!

Oh oh oh! I spent a few more minutes on Google and found something better!

    http://www.musicforte.com/sheet_music/product/71900305/DaretoRunSongbook/

It is the actual "songbook" the song is out of… I recognize the front of it because it matches what our youth room was painted (ahhh, the wonderful 90's!)

    Again, hope this is helpful!
